The Project
This project involved extensive alterations to a double lateral first floor apartment in prestigious Lowndes Square, Belgravia, London.
Our client, a developer, appointed RBD to completely redesign and reconfigure the property to create a modern and desirable home for potential buyers.
The Design Response
Our design approach was to arrange all the principal rooms such as the Drawing Room, Dining Room and Master Bedroom facing the front of the apartment with views over the square. This required an intimate understanding of the building, its construction and the location of existing services.
This 5-bedroom apartment is detailed throughout with high quality, custom fitted joinery and detailing, including bespoke doors, wardrobes, storage units with integrated audio visual and air conditioning systems and coffer ceilings.
Following the original apartment strip-out we discovered a series of reinforced concrete beams forming the main supporting structure to the floors above. To maximise the finished ceiling height, we designed lit coffer ceiling details in the principal rooms to disguise the beams and to create a distinctive feature.
