Extensive extension and alteration of this family home in Harpenden, Herts
The Brief
This growing family want to add additional entertaining space and bedrooms to their home. We have applied for planning permission for a single storey and first floor rear extension, first floor side extension above existing garage and part single, part two storey side extension, alterations to openings
The Design Response
The client has moved out, placed all their belongings in storage and major demolition is underway.
The contractor has built the walls of the single storey side and rear extensions up to plate and is installing the steels which will support new large opening doors to the garden and the first-floor side and rear extensions. The roof has been taken off the existing rear family room and existing side garage conversion to allow structural alterations to support new first floor extensions above. The contractor is also laying new brickwork at first floor level in these areas.
Internally, most of the house has been stripped out and major alterations are underway to suit the new extended floor plans.
